ISLAMABAD: The nation is commemorating the anniversaries of three valiant soldiers including Major Muhammad Haseeb and Havaldar Noor Ahmed on their first, and Major Wasef Hussain Shah on his 11th martyrdom anniversary.
These martyrs are regarded as a source of pride for the entire nation, their selfless sacrifices forming some of the brightest chapters in the country’s history. Among these distinguished heroes are Major Wasef Hussain Shah, Major Muhammad Haseeb, and Havaldar Noor Ahmed, who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Major Wasef Hussain Shah embraced martyrdom on 15 November 2014 during Operation Zarb-e-Azb, fighting with exceptional courage. In recognition of his bravery, he was awarded the Sitara-e-Basalat.
Major Muhammad Haseeb and Havaldar Noor Ahmed were fearless and dedicated soldiers, committed to defending their homeland. Both men were martyred on 14 November 2024 while bravely confronting terrorists during an operation in Harnai, Balochistan.
The nation pays rich tribute to the unwavering courage and sacrifice of the martyrs, whose legacy continues to inspire citizens of every age. Their eternal sacrifices remain a guiding light for the people of Pakistan.
Self-funded memorial Sighar Village’s martyrs:
Meanwhile, In a remarkable tribute to Pakistan’s fallen heroes, residents of Sighar village in Talagang have built a memorial to martyrs entirely through their own contributions. On 14 November, a heartfelt and patriotic ceremony was held at the newly constructed Yadgar-e-Shuhada, drawing a large gathering from various walks of life, including local elders and community members.
Participants paid rich tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country. Sighar village is widely known as the land of martyrs and veterans. A total of 30 brave sons of the village sacrificed their lives for Pakistan—25 from the Pakistan Army and 5 from the Pakistan Air Force.
Sighar also takes pride in its 766 veterans, who have served in the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, and Pakistan Navy across different eras, strengthening the village’s legacy of service and patriotism.
During the ceremony, honorary shields were presented to the families of the martyrs. The event not only acknowledged the immense sacrifices of the fallen soldiers but also reflected the unity, devotion, and unwavering resolve of the people of Sighar.
Naeek (Retd.) Ghulam Muhammad, a veteran of the 1971 war, said, “I fought in the ’71 war, and I am still ready to lay down my life for this country.”
Chief Warrant Officer (Retd.) Malik Mulazam Hussain added, “With the support of our villagers, we have built this memorial in honor of our martyrs.” He further noted, “Our village is a village of martyrs and veterans. We have 28 martyrs.”
Subedar (Retd.) Ejaz Hussain said, “We constructed the memorial through our own efforts. Even today, around 700 of our veterans stand shoulder to shoulder with the Armed Forces of Pakistan. We proudly salute our martyrs.”
