Having failed to find any public interest in repeated Adiala jail dramas, CM KPK has now blocked main highway at Sangjani, creating havoc for commuters, patients and freight transport.
Earlier the convoy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was stopped at the entry point of Islamabad, resulting in severe disruption to traffic flow.
On the motorway leading to Islamabad, a queue of vehicles stretched up to approximately 10 kilometers, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
The Chief Minister insisted on traveling to Adiala via the GT Road, while Islamabad Police maintained that there is an alternative route from the Chakri Interchange that leads to Adiala and urged him to use that route instead.
Additionally, there was a heated exchange of words between the police and the Chief Minister at 26 Number Chungi.
Passengers faced long delays and difficulties due to the situation, and they were seen expressing frustration over the Chief Minister’s insistence. Meanwhile, traffic police continued efforts to divert vehicles to alternative routes.
The situation has caused strong anger and concern among commuters entering Islamabad from the motorway side.
Meanwhile, citizens from Peshawar, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Swabi, and Lower Dir have strongly criticized the performance of the provincial government and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, rejecting his governance.
According to responses collected during a survey across various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there is reportedly a complete absence of good governance in the province, and criminal elements are operating openly.
Citizens say that instead of resolving public issues, the Chief Minister is spending most of his time and energy on visits to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and political maneuvering, leaving the province effectively neglected.
The arrival and movement of the Chief Minister’s convoy caused severe traffic congestion in the city, resulting in long queues of vehicles on several roads.
According to sources, some ambulances were also caught in the traffic jam, causing difficulties in the transfer of patients. Due to the intense heat, citizens had to wait on the roads for long periods, facing significant hardship.
