Sohail Afridi to Adalia

Sohail Afrid’s convoy has created traffic hazard for public on M1 Motorway, leaving ambulances stranded in long queues. People are pleading for help, but he is stubbornly insisting on taking a convoy of 15 vehicles through Islamabad to Adiala Jail.

A convoy carrying the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was stopped at the entrance to Islamabad, triggering traffic disruptions and long queues stretching several kilometres along the motorway, officials and witnesses said.

Authorities reported that traffic became heavily congested, with vehicles backing up nearly 10 kilometres as security and traffic personnel attempted to manage movement toward the capital.

According to officials, a disagreement emerged between the provincial convoy and Islamabad Police over the route to Adiala Jail.

Police officials advised the convoy to use the Chakri Interchange route, which directly leads toward Adiala Jail, citing established security protocols and traffic management procedures.

However, the chief minister reportedly insisted on traveling via the GT Road route instead, leading to a standoff at the entry point, officials said.

Talks between the convoy and Islamabad police were ongoing as authorities attempted to resolve the situation and restore normal traffic flow.

Meanwhile, commuters heading into Islamabad from the motorway faced prolonged delays as security personnel diverted and held traffic at multiple points.
