Top Conflict & World Affairs Analysis Magazine, Foreign Affairs has mentioned that May 2025 crisis marked the most severe fighting in decades where Pakistan responded to Indian attacks in a most professional and retaliatory manner.

According to the magazine, Pakistan showed strong defensive capability during the crisis and downing of Indian aircrafts and effective response highlighted improved preparedness.

The article further claims that Pakistan has undertaken reforms to prepare for the kind of conventional conflict it has long sought to deter. It created the Army Rocket Force Command, an outfit tasked with enhancing Pakistan’s conventional precision-strike systems and consolidated military planning, deployment, and procurement authorities under now-Chief of Defense Forces Asim Munir. Islamabad has also rhetorically signaled its own greater appetite for risk-taking, warning that it would “not hold back” in the face of Indian aggression.

It also mentions that US President Donald Trump has always been claiming credit for brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India along with his often-repeated phrase that during the conflict Pakistan downed 5 Indian jets. President has repeated this phrase on numerous occasions, attracting widespread attention to the sensitivity and severity of the conflict.

According to the article Trump brokered the ceasefire and struggled bring the parties to the table talk but Delhi had been obstinate and unwilling, which has long insisted that its disputes with Pakistan are purely bilateral and don’t require the mediation or intervention of outside powers

Security observers warn that any next clash may begin at a higher intensity level. Both countries are expanding military capabilities, including air defence and long-range strike systems.

Despite temporary peace, analysts caution that miscalculation remains a major risk. A fast-moving conflict, combined with misinformation and pressure for retaliation, could spiral quickly. They stress the need for dialogue and crisis management channels to avoid a wider conflict in a region home to a quarter of the world’s population.
