Web Desk: Delegation of Cricket Australia has arrived in Lahore to assess security arrangements ahead of the national team’s scheduled T20I tour of Pakistan.
Detailed inspections of multiple locations will be carried out by the visiting security officials including, the National cricket academy (NCA), Gaddafi stadium and the LCCA Ground to evaluate the safety measures in place.
Local security agencies with the Pakistan Cricket board will be briefing Australian team on all the protocols developed for the tour. Officials are aiming for a comprehensive plan that will mee Australia’s security standards.
The final decision on where the matches will take place will depend upon the recommendations and findings presented in the security team’s report. However, Lahore has been earmarked to host all three matches.
At the end of next month Australia’s T20I squad is expected to arrive for a three-match series. It should be noted that PCB had asked cricket Australia to expand the tour to 5 matches.
The reason for this request was a request made by Cricket Australia. Cricket Australia requested PCB to not call Pakistani stars back for series with Sri Lanka while Big Bash League is being played. The stars included Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan.
Conditional NOCs have been issued which require these players to return for national duties if needed. The Sri Lanka series is scheduled to overlap with the BBL season.
