Web Desk: Pakistan International Airlines has appointed renowned Pakistani fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, popularly known as HSY, to design new uniforms for its cabin crew as the national carrier seeks to modernise its image and improve the passenger experience.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline invited several leading Pakistani fashion designers to Karachi last month to present proposals for the new uniforms.
The airline assessed the submissions on creativity, craftsmanship and their ability to represent Pakistan’s cultural heritage while reflecting PIA’s identity as the country’s flag carrier.
Following the evaluation, HSY was selected to develop the new designs, which are expected to blend contemporary fashion with elements inspired by Pakistan’s cultural traditions.
PIA plans to unveil the uniforms on October 31, coinciding with the inaugural flight of its new Boeing 787 aircraft.
The flight is scheduled to depart from London for Islamabad, with cabin crew wearing the newly designed outfits to welcome passengers on board.
The unveiling will form part of the airline’s broader efforts to refresh its brand identity as it pursues modernisation and seeks to strengthen its image among domestic and international travellers.
The uniform redesign reflects PIA’s stated focus on professionalism, service standards and national identity, the spokesperson said.
By bringing a prominent Pakistani designer into the project, the airline aims to incorporate local cultural elements into a more contemporary look for its crew.
The new uniforms are expected to be a visible part of PIA’s transformation efforts, although the airline has not provided further details about the designs ahead of their planned unveiling.
