Web Desk: Pakistan’s proposed Automotive and Auto Parts Policy 2026-31 could reduce the prices of several popular locally sold cars by changing taxes and import duties, potentially making models such as the Toyota Yaris, Suzuki Cultus and Suzuki Alto more affordable.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the draft policy, although it still requires approval from the International Monetary Fund and the federal cabinet before it can take effect.
According to estimates reported by The Express Tribune, the Toyota Yaris could see its projected price decline from around Rs6 million to Rs5.3 million under the proposed policy.
That would represent a potential saving of about Rs700,000 for buyers if the estimated reduction is ultimately reflected in retail prices.
The Suzuki Cultus could see its projected price fall from approximately Rs4.3 million to Rs3.8 million, translating into a potential saving of Rs500,000.
Meanwhile, the Suzuki Alto could decline from around Rs3.2 million to Rs2.845 million, which would amount to an estimated saving of Rs355,000.
The proposed reductions are based on projected prices and do not represent confirmed price cuts announced by the automakers.
