Web Desk: Security forces have repelled attempted attacks on three posts in Gwadar, while a search operation continues to track down the assailants, according to a security update issued on Thursday.
The update said members of the group identified as FAH targeted security force positions at three locations. However, troops responded effectively and thwarted the attacks.
It reported multiple casualties among the attackers, although the exact number had not been confirmed.
Following the attacks, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation to locate the assailants.
A separate account described the target as an unoccupied security checkpoint in Gwadar and said the attackers fled after security personnel responded. The accounts did not clarify whether the checkpoint was among the three locations mentioned in the initial update.
The operation remained underway, with security personnel continuing efforts to track down those responsible.
The security update described the assailants as terrorists but did not provide independently verified details about their identities, the precise circumstances of the attacks or the extent of the casualties.
There was no immediate information about injuries or damage to security infrastructure.
The situation remained developing as the clearance operation continued.
