PTI MNA Iqbal Afridi flees to Afghanistan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Iqbal Afridi has reportedly fled to Afghanistan after going into hiding, according to claims made by sources close to his family.

Afridi has made strong speeches against the federal government and encouraging young people to take part in political confrontations.

His reported disappearance has raised fresh questions about his political stance and whereabouts.

Critics say that leaders who encourage their supporters to fight, face danger and make sacrifices should also take responsibility for their own statements and political decisions.

Political opponents have criticised Afridi, arguing that leaders who call on party workers to confront the authorities should not avoid accountability themselves.

They say that if reports of his escape to Afghanistan prove true, it could raise serious questions about the difference between his public statements and personal actions.

Court Had Ordered Passport Block

In September 2026, an anti-terrorism court ordered the blocking of passports belonging to 24 PTI lawmakers, including Iqbal Afridi, in connection with a case related to the November 26 protest.

Afridi’s reported disappearance has also sparked debate over political accountability. His critics argue that politicians who encourage confrontational politics should be prepared to face the consequences of their statements.
