Web Desk: Pakistan’s army chief and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has vowed to continue operations against what he described as India-backed terrorist groups, saying security forces would strike them wherever they were found.

According to a statement from the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Munir made the remarks during a visit to the Peshawar Corps headquarters, where he received a briefing on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, counterterrorism operations, border management and the operational readiness of troops deployed in the province.

Munir praised the morale and professionalism of officers and soldiers and directed them to maintain constant vigilance against emerging threats.

He also stressed the need to preserve a high level of operational preparedness so that security forces could respond effectively to security challenges, the statement said.

The visit comes as Pakistan continues counterterrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province that has faced repeated attacks and security threats along its border with Afghanistan.

The army chief paid tribute to soldiers killed in the line of duty, security personnel who survived combat injuries and civilians who had sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism.

Munir said Pakistan, with the support of its people, would defeat terrorists and what he described as their “misguided ideology.”

He also reiterated the military’s resolve to pursue India-backed terrorist organisations with full force, saying they would face a strong response wherever they were located.

During the visit, the army chief was briefed on the deployment and preparedness of troops, border security measures and ongoing operations across the province.

The Corps Commander Peshawar received Munir upon his arrival at the headquarters.

The military statement did not provide further details about specific operations or identify the organisations referred to as India-backed groups.
