Web Desk: Security forces killed at least 10 terrorists, including a woman, during clearance operations in and around Gwadar after attacks were attempted near the Gabd Border Crossing and in Gwadar city, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the attacks took place on Oct. 22 and were carried out by terrorists it described as Indian-sponsored members of “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
Security forces launched separate clearance operations after the attacks to secure affected areas and protect civilians, ISPR said.
The military said the operations disrupted attempts to undermine the writ of the state and restore order in the affected areas.
One civilian was killed during the attacks, while several vehicles were damaged, according to the statement. No security personnel were killed or wounded during the operations, it added.
ISPR said the attackers had targeted locations in an effort to damage public safety and obstruct development in Balochistan.
The military said one of the attackers was a woman, alleging that terrorist groups were exploiting Baloch women for propaganda purposes.
ISPR condemned what it described as the coercion of a Baloch woman into carrying out an attack, saying such actions were incompatible with Baloch and Islamic traditions.
The military also said people in Balochistan had repeatedly rejected violence carried out in their name.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for killing the 10 terrorists and preventing further attacks in Gwadar and around the Gabd crossing.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif commended the professionalism of the officers and personnel involved in the operation and expressed grief over the death of the civilian.
He prayed for the deceased and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Sharif said the attackers were enemies of Balochistan’s development and prosperity and vowed that counterterrorism operations would continue under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework.
He also said the government and people remained committed to supporting security forces and law enforcement agencies in efforts to eliminate what he described as foreign-sponsored terrorism.
Earlier on Friday, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir pledged to continue operations against what he called Indian-sponsored terrorist outfits.
During a visit to Corps Headquarters in Peshawar, Munir received briefings on the security situation, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management and the operational readiness of military formations in the province, ISPR said.
He praised the morale and professionalism of officers and troops and directed them to maintain vigilance and the highest level of operational preparedness against security threats.
The Gwadar operation comes as Pakistani security forces continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework, with authorities vowing to sustain pressure on armed groups operating in the country.
