The AI-based platform ChatGPT experienced a partial service disruption across multiple countries, causing difficulties for millions of users worldwide.
According to reports, users complained about issues logging in, chats not loading, and unusually slow performance. The problem was not limited to a single country but affected users globally.
The issues first started at about around 10.05am ET / 3.05pm, when a large spike in reports appeared on Downdetector. At the time of writing, there were over 7,600 reports of issues in the UK, but only 1,700 in the US.

The parent company OpenAI described the situation as a “partial outage” and confirmed that investigations into the technical issue are ongoing, with efforts underway to fully restore the service.
Initial information suggests that the issue may have been caused by problems in servers or backend systems, though the exact cause has not yet been determined.
Experts say that such technical issues can occasionally occur in global services, but companies typically resolve them quickly.
Users facing disruptions jumped to social media platforms to report the disruption, with hashtags related to the outage trending in several regions. Some users expressed frustration over interrupted work and studies, while others shared screenshots of error messages and slow responses.
For now, the service is gradually being restored, although some users may still experience issues.
