Pakistan red-ball team interim coach Mike Hesson says the goal is to build a balanced squad for the third Test against England. The past few days have been challenging due to players coming and going, but the players are fully focused on the next Test.
Speaking at a press conference during the Pakistan cricket team’s practice session in Birmingham, interim red-ball coach Mike Hesson said the past few days had been challenging because of players arriving and leaving. He said the team has come for the third Test and the players are fully focused.
He said, “I am currently the interim red-ball coach. I was in Japan preparing for the Asian Games, and when I arrived in Lahore, I was asked to take on the interim responsibility of the red-ball team. I am not part of red-ball selection; I am part of the white-ball coaching and selection setup.”
Mike Hesson said the goal is to build a balanced squad for the third Test. New young players have joined the team, which he said would make Pakistan’s bowling attack look stronger. He added that he does not know the reason behind the release of the players.
He said Mohammad Abbas has bowled exceptionally well on the England tour. He has already worked with some of the red-ball players. The players are certainly disappointed, he said, but “we need to look forward.”
It should be noted that the third Test between Pakistan and England will be played in Birmingham from September 9.
