An important decision has been taken to ensure the timely delivery of ready passports to citizens across the country. Under the new arrangement, passport delivery counters will also remain open on Saturdays.
The facility aims to provide convenience to citizens who are unable to reach the relevant office during regular working hours to collect their ready passports.
According to details, passport delivery counters across the country will remain open for citizens on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During this time, people who have received notification that their passports are ready will be able to collect them.
According to the Director General of Immigration and Passports, this special passport delivery facility on Saturdays will continue for two months. The initiative will give citizens an opportunity to collect their passports on Saturdays in addition to regular working days.
Officials said the additional weekly facility will be particularly useful for citizens who cannot visit the office during the week to collect their passports due to work, business or other commitments. Such citizens can now collect their ready passports from the relevant passport delivery counter during the designated Saturday hours.
The Director General of Immigration and Passports urged citizens to collect their ready passports as soon as possible and avoid unnecessary delays. He said citizens whose passports have been prepared should collect them during the designated hours at their convenience.
Passports may be destroyed if delayed for more than six months
Meanwhile, the Director General of Immigration and Passports clarified that passports that are not collected for more than six months will be destroyed in accordance with government policy.
Citizens have been instructed not to leave their passports pending at the office unnecessarily after they are ready and to collect them within the stipulated period.
According to officials, the decision to open the counters on Saturdays is part of efforts to provide greater convenience to citizens and make the process of handing over ready passports more efficient.
