Web Desk: The Punjab government has launched the third batch of its CM’s Climate Internship Programme, offering selected graduates a monthly stipend of Rs60,000.
The initiative seeks to equip young graduates with practical experience in climate-related work while creating opportunities for them to develop professional skills in the environmental sector.
Selected interns will receive the stipend for three months. During the programme, they will undergo professional training, receive guidance from specialists and participate in field activities linked to climate change and environmental protection.
The programme also places emphasis on increasing women’s participation. Officials have allocated 50% of the available positions to female applicants.
In addition, graduates holding foreign degrees will have a dedicated quota under the scheme.
Authorities said candidates will be selected through an automated, merit-based system, with the selection process designed to assess applicants on merit.
Beyond classroom-style training, participants will receive practical exposure through the Environmental Protection Department’s field offices and policy units.
The programme will also give interns access to a modern learning management system and opportunities to participate in inspections at the district level. Furthermore, participants may receive internationally recognised certification through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Officials expect the combination of training, field assignments and expert mentorship to give young graduates a clearer understanding of climate policy and environmental management.
Interested graduates have until Sept. 18, 2026, to submit their applications for the internship programme.
Applicants can register through the Punjab Environment Protection Department’s official climate internship portal.
