The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has issued important guidelines for Pakistanis working in or travelling to Saudi Arabia.
According to the advisory, workers should always carry their Iqama, or residence permit, and renew it before it expires.
Workers have also been advised to wear proper safety equipment at their workplaces to avoid accidents and injuries.
Pakistani workers should keep records of their monthly salary receipts and bank statements. They should also keep track of their end-of-service benefits.
The bureau advised workers to send money to their families in Pakistan only through official and authorised channels.
Workers should keep a copy of their employment contract with them. They have also been advised to save part of their monthly income as an emergency fund.
Before leaving Saudi Arabia, Pakistani workers should complete all required exit clearance procedures.
The advisory also asked Pakistanis to dress modestly and appropriately in public places. They should respect Saudi Arabia’s holy sites, Islamic values and religious practices.
Pakistani citizens have also been advised to save the emergency contact numbers of the Pakistan Embassy or Consulate in Saudi Arabia. This will help them seek assistance during an emergency or difficult situation.
