YouTube recently made it possible to watch videos on television without using a remote control.
This means you can now use your smartphone for searches, comments and other tasks on the TV, without having to interrupt the video playing on the television.
Now, YouTube is giving phones another useful function.
With this tool, users will be able to lock and unlock their YouTube account on their TV.
YouTube Introduces New Account Lock Feature
The company has introduced a new account lock feature for its TV app.
With this feature, users can protect their account with a four-digit code.
This feature will be particularly useful on TVs used by multiple people when you want to keep your account and profile separate from other users.
How to Use the Feature?
To use this feature, open the YouTube app on your TV.
Select your account from the navigation menu on the left and then go to the settings below it.
Follow the instructions that appear there to turn on the account lock and create your code.
This code will work only on that particular TV.
You will not need to enter the code using the remote every time. Instead, when you select the locked profile on the TV, open YouTube on your phone and follow the instructions that appear there.
Enabling notifications can also make this process faster.
If you forget the code, the account will not remain permanently locked on the TV. Instead, select “Forgot code” on the lock screen and verify your identity.
After doing so, the account lock will be disabled on the device.
According to the company, the feature has been rolled out worldwide for most smart TVs, streaming devices and game consoles.
