WhatsApp has introduced four new features to make group chats easier and more efficient. The features will allow users to pin important messages indefinitely, share previous conversations with new members, and post status updates directly in specific groups.
The newly introduced features aim to make it easier to find important information in group chats, catch up on previous conversations, and share information with specific individuals or groups. These features are being rolled out to Android and iOS users.
Under the new WhatsApp feature, users will now be able to pin important messages in group chats without any time limit. Previously, users had to select a duration of 24 hours, seven days or 30 days when pinning a message. However, with the new option, important messages will remain at the top of the chat indefinitely.
The new feature will also allow group administrators and members to share previous conversations with newly added members. This will help newcomers understand earlier discussions in the group without having to repeatedly ask other members for details.
According to WhatsApp, messages shared through this feature will also remain protected by end-to-end encryption.
WhatsApp has also introduced an option allowing users to share their status updates with specific groups instead of all their contacts. Other group members will be able to view and react to these status updates, which will automatically disappear after 24 hours, just like regular statuses.
The fourth feature is a filter that will help users easily find messages in which they have been mentioned, messages sent in response to their messages, or messages addressed to the entire group. This will make it easier to locate important unread messages.
These new WhatsApp features will also be available in community chats and can be removed when no longer needed.
