The situation became clear after the federal government issued a notification regarding austerity measures.
A fake notification circulating on social media in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding three weekly holidays in educational institutions left children and parents confused. However, the Education Department clarified that the notification was fake.
The notification circulated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was issued using fake signatures in the names of the Education Department and Administration. The Education Department formally clarified that no notification had been issued by the provincial government or in light of government orders.
The clarification stated that the government had not issued any notification announcing three weekly holidays in educational institutions. Despite this, the circulation of the fake notification continued for three days.
Even after the Education Department’s clarification, another notification regarding holidays in educational institutions was circulated on social media in the name of the Administration Department, once again misleading parents, teachers and children.
Later, the federal government issued a formal notification regarding austerity measures, which did not mention three weekly holidays — Friday, Saturday and Sunday — for educational institutions or government offices.
Citizens said that spreading such fake notifications on social media was not a new practice. They said that the government and institutions also issue orders for action against those operating such social media accounts, but no action had been taken to date.
