On the directives of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, a decision has been taken to further promote school cricket in the country and identify talented cricketers at the grassroots level. The second season of the PCB Talent Hunt Programme for Schools will begin in Lahore on Saturday.
In the opening match of the programme, the teams of Beaconhouse and Aitchison College will face each other at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. The match will begin at 2pm. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony.
According to sources, the purpose of this school cricket programme is to bring forward young and talented players from different parts of the country and provide them with opportunities to play at the national level.
The PCB has planned to take the programme to different parts of the country in order to expand the scope of cricket at the school level.
After the opening match, a musical concert will also be held at Gaddafi Stadium, where renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform. The PCB has kept entry free for spectators attending the opening match and musical concert.
The PCB School Talent Hunt Programme will provide young players with a platform to showcase their abilities, while the programme will also focus on identifying future national cricketers and taking them through the stages of training.
