Eid-ul Adha in Pakistan

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign for Eid ul Adha 2026 to promote safe, convenient, and cashless transactions in cattle markets across Pakistan.

According to the State Bank, large-scale economic and commercial activities take place in cattle markets nationwide during Eid ul Adha, most of which rely on cash transactions. Considering the huge scale of these transactions and to increase digital financial inclusion, the State Bank has been promoting this activity for the past few years to encourage digital payment methods in cattle markets by taking advantage of this seasonal tradition.

It was further stated that, based on the success of previous campaigns, this initiative has been significantly expanded in 2026. Last year, 54 cattle markets across the country were part of the campaign, while this year the number has increased to 96.

The State Bank said that under the “Go Cashless” campaign, 22 partner banks will establish special camps and kiosks in designated cattle markets to facilitate buyers and sellers. The partner banks will help livestock sellers (traders), transporters, and related service providers open accounts and adopt digital payment channels through QR code-based payment methods.

To facilitate the high volume of transactions during Eid, the State Bank has also temporarily relaxed transaction and account balance limits from May 14, 2026, to June 5, 2026. Where possible, mobile banking vans, ATMs, and Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) will also be installed in cattle markets and nearby areas to improve access to financial services.
