Punjab Assembly member and Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority Hina Pervaiz Butt has strongly criticised YouTuber Rajab Butt over his controversial remarks concerning sexual abuse of children.
Hina Pervaiz Butt condemned the YouTuber’s conduct and questioned the mindset of those who continue to support someone making such statements.
In a post on her X account, the Punjab Assembly member expressed anger over Rajab Butt’s latest controversial remarks, writing that making jokes about an extremely sensitive issue like child abuse is not a laughing matter.
She also criticised the YouTuber’s response following the controversial remarks, saying that Rajab Butt adopted inappropriate behaviour towards people who objected to the matter.
Hina Pervaiz Butt wrote, “In my opinion, people who follow a mindset like yours also do not seem normal.”
It is pertinent to note that the controversy began when an old TikTok live video featuring Rajab Butt and fellow content creator Zaid Ali, concerning sexual abuse of children, began circulating again on social media.
After the YouTubers’ video went viral again on social media, numerous users strongly criticised them. Actresses Sahar Khan and Mishi Khan, among other public figures, also spoke out against the remarks, saying that such a serious and painful issue should not be turned into entertainment or a joke.
Later, Rajab Butt responded to critics by comparing his follower count with the viewership of television dramas, further intensifying the ongoing debate over his controversial remarks.
Following widespread criticism, Rajab Butt eventually issued a public apology on Instagram.
