The Punjab Home Department has prolonged the section 144 in all over Punjab for an additional week, the private media reported on Sunday.
The provincial government issued a notification stating that Section 144 will be implemented till Saturday, November 8, 2025.
An official from the Punjab government stated that the ban on all kinds of protests, marches, processions, sit-ins, public gatherings, and related activities will stay enforced.
Under Section 144, public gathering of four or more people in public areas is completely banned.
According to the circular issued by the government, showing weapons and the use of loudspeakers is strictly prohibited. However, the use of loudspeakers is allowed only for Azan and Jummah sermons.
Printing or circulating any proactive, hateful, or sectarian material is also banned under the directive issued by the government.
As per the spkesperson provincial government, the move to prolong Section 144 was made to keep public order and protect the lives and property of citizens.
At the same time, there is no ban on wedding events, funeral prayers, or last rites, the spokesperson confirmed.
Similarly, the government employees and other officials will perform their duties as per the normal schedule.
The implementation of bans had started in Punjab last month after violent protests by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), which was later outlawed by the federal government.
