DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that India staged a “false flag operation” in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on September 29 and allegedly tried to portray a Pakistan Army soldier as a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander.
Speaking at a press conference, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that on the night of September 29, an Indian Corps posted on X about what it described as a joint search operation in occupied Kashmir. The Indian Army claimed that a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander had been killed in the operation and that his body had been recovered.
Indian authorities identified the man as Muhammad Asif Ilyas, alias Hashim Musa, and presented his alleged killing as a major development.
According to the DG ISPR, an Indian news agency later released details along with a service number and claimed that Asif was an SSG havaldar of the Pakistan Army.
The Indian government described Muhammad Musa, alias Asif Fauji, as a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and claimed that he had been continuously active in Jammu and Kashmir since 2022.
‘Operation Sherwali’ and alleged fabricated claims
According to the spokesperson, Indian authorities presented the operation as a major success under the name “Operation Sherwali.” The Indian Army alleged that Asif Fauji had been involved in several incidents in the region, including the Halan attack and the DKG attack, while also claiming that three other members of his group had been killed in separate operations.
Pakistan’s military spokesperson further alleged that India has long used such “false flag operations” to divert international attention from its internal failures and serious human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
