Important facts have emerged regarding the issuance of the MDCAT answer keys and results in Sindh without providing candidates with the question paper.
While it appears that IBA Sukkur did not release the MDCAT question paper, the facts behind the decision have now come to light.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had issued a notification on September 10 directing all universities conducting the test not to release the question paper.
A notification issued 10 days before the test also required universities to collect the question papers from candidates after the examination and ensure that the papers did not remain with them.
According to the notification issued by the PMDC, candidates should not be provided with the test paper as part of an improved examination process.
The notification was issued by the Registration Office Examination Department of the PMDC, and copies were also sent to the health departments of all four provinces.
It is pertinent to mention that more than 33,000 students appeared in the MDCAT in Sindh on September 20, including more than 9,000 candidates from Karachi.
However, the non-release of the question paper after the test created confusion, with a large number of students claiming that the release of only the answer keys did not allow them to verify whether the answers they had given were correct or incorrect.
When media contacted IBA Sukkur Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Sheikh regarding the matter, he said that the question paper had been released last year.
He added that if the PMDC had allowed it this year, the question papers would have been released as well, and that they could still be released if the PMDC grants permission.
