Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi went through a cardiac procedure, with doctors inserting two stents to address a clot in his heart vessels.
According to the doctors, the former prime minister is recovering well, and he is constantly being monitored. Abbasi’s family told the media that doctors advised him to take complete rest and avoid doing any physical work.
Earlier, the Convener of Awaam Pakistan party was admitted to the hospital due to heart complications, and his treatment is still going on under the supervision of senior heart specialists.
Former finance minister Miftah Ismail said in a post on X that the former prime minister’s health is improving and he is on complete rest.
Miftah Ismail wrote on X, “Alhamdolillah Shahid Khaqan Abbasi sahib’s health condition continues to improve and he is now resting comfortably.”
“We expect and pray for his quick and full recovery. I thank friends who have been calling to ask about his health,” Miftah added.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi served as the 18th prime minister of the country from August 2017 to May 2018 after Nawaz Sharif’s removal from office.
Later, in February 2023, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi left Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), where he had served as a senior vice president. After that, in the same year, he launched his own party, Awaam Pakistan.
