Web desk: A resolution was tabled in the Punjab Assembly on Thursday to commend the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defence agreement, lauding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in the landmark accord.
The resolution was presented by Shoaib Siddiqui, a member of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
It stated that the warm reception and royal protocol extended to the Pakistani prime minister by the Saudi leadership was a highly appreciable gesture.
According to the text, the defence pact would have a profound impact on bilateral relations, enabling both countries to formulate a joint defence strategy through mutual consultation.
It also includes a clause that any act of aggression against one country would be considered an attack on both.
The resolution further highlighted that the purpose of the agreement is to strengthen military cooperation, build joint strategies, and ensure mutual security against possible aggression.
It added that the global community has acknowledged the strength and importance of Pakistan’s armed forces.
The resolution congratulated the prime minister, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army, and the people of Pakistan on this development.
