The Punjab Education Department has finalized its 2026 academic plan. This includes the annual examination schedule. It also covers a revised admission policy. A new school calendar was also approved. Officials confirmed updates to the syllabus too.
Examination and Results
Exams for classes 1 to 7 are now scheduled. They will run from March 10 to March 22, 2026. Results will be released on March 31. This completes the examination timeline.
Textbooks and New Session
Updated textbooks are a key part of the plan. The department is replacing 29 textbooks. These are for classes six to matric. They will go to print in December. The new academic year starts on April 1, 2026. Free textbooks will be distributed in government schools. This process will begin on April 5.
Learning Challenges Persist
Education officials raised a serious warning. Punjab continues to face severe learning challenges. The situation is worsening. Over 28 million children were out of school in the 2025 session. This number is projected to exceed 30 million next year.
Enrollment Crisis
Declining enrollment is a major concern. The department highlighted the issue. It is especially acute among girls. Many underage children are leaving school. They often seek work in informal sectors. Examples include restaurants and workshops. This trend indicates a growing social problem. Officials are working to address these issues. The new policies aim to improve educational outcomes.
