Web Desk: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Dr Fakhar Alam Irfan has warned that officials who fail to perform their duties have no place in the provincial administration, calling for an end to late arrivals, a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and improved public services.
Speaking at his first formal meeting with senior provincial officials, Dr Fakhar stressed the need to improve the performance of the bureaucracy and dispel the perception in other provinces that government officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa do not work, according to sources familiar with the meeting.
He directed officials to arrive at their offices before 9 a.m. and warned that the administration must prioritise practical results over personal publicity.
Irfan called on officers to work diligently and demonstrate their commitment through measurable improvements in public service delivery.
He also made clear that the provincial administration would not tolerate corruption, reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against corrupt practices.
Furthermore, he said officials should focus on their responsibilities rather than seeking personal credit for government initiatives.
“If the government is responsible for something done wrong, then credit for what is done right should also go to the government and the state,” he said, according to sources.
He urged officers to ensure that their work reflects the performance of the government and the state rather than their individual profiles.
In a move aimed at improving public access to government departments, the chief secretary ordered the immediate restoration of telephone connections at government offices that had been disconnected over the past several years, the sources said.
The restoration is intended to make it easier for citizens to contact government departments and seek assistance with their complaints and administrative matters.
