Web Desk: Social media accounts affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including National Assembly member Iqbal Afridi, have been accused of circulating a false claim that authorities evicted the elderly and ailing mother of fugitive former lawmaker Murad Saeed from her home.
The claim has been rejected by officials, who said the action on Oct. 20 involved the vacation of a government residence in Swat and did not target Saeed’s parents or other family members.
According to the authorities, the Malakand division commissioner acted on official instructions to recover a government residential property in Swat that had allegedly remained under the unauthorized occupation of Murad’s brother, Kaleem Saeed.
Kaleem Saeed is also employed as a tax assistant in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, according to the information provided by the authorities.
Officials said the operation was limited to clearing the government property and was not an eviction of Murad’s parents from their private residence.
Authorities said Murad Saeed’s parents and other family members continue to live at their ancestral home in Kabal, Swat.
They also denied reports circulating online that Murad’s mother or father had been removed from their residence as part of the government action.
