ANP alleges Rs28.61 Billion Irregularities in PTI-Era Sehat Card Programme

The Awami National Party (ANP) has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of widespread corruption and financial irregularities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s healthcare sector during its 13-year rule, demanding an immediate and transparent investigation.

ANP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Arslan Khan Nazim alleged that Rs28.61 billion was misused or embezzled under the Sehat Card programme during Imran Khan’s government.

He claimed that several private hospitals were included in the Sehat Card panel without following proper procedures. According to him, hospitals operating without official registration in 10 districts of the province were also included in the programme and received payments.

The spokesperson questioned why public funds were provided to unregistered hospitals and demanded accountability for the alleged financial irregularities.

He also accused Dr Nausherwan Burki, Imran Khan’s cousin, of mismanaging the provincial healthcare system under the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Act.

Nazim alleged that Burki was managing key healthcare decisions remotely from the United States through WhatsApp, contributing to administrative and financial problems in government hospitals.

The ANP spokesperson further stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had received approximately Rs6.4 trillion under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award since 2013. However, he said the province continued to face shortages of basic public facilities despite receiving substantial funds.

He demanded an independent investigation into Sehat Card payments, hospital registrations, healthcare spending and the financial management of hospitals operating under the MTI Act.

The ANP also called for legal action against anyone found responsible for corruption, misuse of authority or misappropriation of public funds.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and the article did not include a response from PTI or the individuals accused.
