It is worth mentioning that the shooting incident took place on Saturday night in Washington during the press dinner attended by President Trump. The U.S. president and others remained safe, while the attacker was apprehended.
Following the incident, President Trump told the media in a press conference that the suspect had multiple weapons and that the Secret Service acted swiftly and bravely, intercepting the attacker at a security checkpoint.
Earlier, Trump had said the suspect attempted the attack from about 15 yards away and appeared to be targeting him, adding that he does not believe the shooting is linked to any conflict with Iran.
Describing the moment, Trump said it was extremely shocking. He recalled hearing loud crashing sounds of trays falling and trying to understand what had happened, when Melania immediately remarked that it was a bad sound.
