U.S. President Donald Trump has shared a photo of the alleged shooter.
Trump posted the image on his social media platform Truth Social, claiming it shows the individual involved in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
According to CNN, the suspect has been identified as a 30-year-old man from California.
Earlier, Trump had said the suspect attempted the attack from about 15 yards away and appeared to be targeting him, while adding that he does not believe the shooting is linked to any conflict with Iran.
The incident occurred Saturday night in Washington during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner attended by the president. Trump and other officials remained safe, while the suspect was taken into custody.
Following the shooting, Trump told the media that the suspect possessed multiple weapons and that the Secret Service acted swiftly and courageously, intercepting the attacker at a security checkpoint.
Describing the moment, he said it was shocking, recalling loud crashing sounds before realizing something was wrong.
He further stated that individuals who make a significant impact often face such incidents. “We have taken major steps. This country used to be mocked; we have changed that. We improved conditions, and many people don’t like it,” he said
