Firing at White House dinner

Panic broke out during the annual dinner hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association after sounds of gunfire were heard, prompting security agencies to swiftly move U.S. President Donald Trump location.

According to international media reports, the event was underway in Washington when loud, explosion-like sounds were suddenly heard. Security personnel immediately instructed attendees to take cover and escorted President Trump away from the main stage under heavy protection.

Reports suggest that members of a specialized security unit, including the counter-assault team, took positions on stage and aimed weapons toward the rear section of the hall.

During the chaos, several guests hid under tables in fear, while others were quickly evacuated from the venue.

Senior officials were also escorted out, including the First Lady, U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance, cabinet members, as well as Pete Hegseth and Kash Patel. Eyewitnesses reported hearing approximately five gunshot-like sounds.

Sources say that security personnel have detained a suspect, although no official statement has yet been released.

Meanwhile, Russian media claims that a shooting did occur during the event and that the alleged shooter was shot dead.

Security forces have since cordoned off the entire building, while helicopters continue to circle overhead.

Following the incident, thousands of attendees inside the hall were kept in a temporary lockdown, creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. Authorities are still working to determine the full details of the situation.

In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump said the attacker had been apprehended.

He added that while he would prefer the event to continue, the final decision would be made in accordance with guidance from law enforcement agencies.

“The authorities have advised us to evacuate the venue immediately, which is standard protocol, and we are doing so,” he said. “I will address the press in 30 minutes from the White House briefing room.”

He further confirmed that the First Lady, Vice President, and all cabinet members are safe and unharmed, and announced that the event will be rescheduled within the next 30 days.
