Pakistani players rise in latest T20i rankings

After a convincing win against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan players have jumped in latest T20i rankings.

As per the new rankings,the star spinner Abrar Ahmed after impatful performances in the Asia Cup climbed 12 spots to the fourth spot with 703 rating points.

Abrar claimed two wickets for just 13 runs against UAE, before an indifferent outing in a loss against India (1/42).

However, the leg-spinner regained his composure and delivered an exceptional spell of 1/8 against Sri Lanka. This helped Pakistan to a win, and brought their Asia Cup campaign right on track.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf (nine places up to 28) and Sahibzada Farhan, who smashed a 58 off 45 to get Pakistan going in the same game, jumped 31 spots to reach 24th place. Hussain Talat who guided Pakistan to a win against Sri Lanka with a composed innings, jumped an astronomical 1474 spots to become the joint 234th placed in the men’s T20I batter rankings.

All-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who has impressed with his control with the ball in the ongoing continental tournament, jumped 12 places in the ICC Men’s T20I All-rounder Rankings, to become equal 39th.

Yesterday, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by five wickets to clinch the match. Pakistan chased down a target of 134 runs to defeat Sri Lanka by five wickets in a crucial Asia Cup Super Four match, completing the chase in 18 overs.

Batting first, Sri Lanka managed 133 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis top-scored with a resilient 50 runs.

Pathum Nissanka added 20, while Perera and Hasaranga chipped in with 15 runs each. Pathum Nissanka fell for 8, and Kusal Mendis was dismissed without scoring. Chamika Karunaratne remained unbeaten on 17.

Pakistan’s bowling attack kept firm control of the innings. Shaheen Shah Afridi starred with 3 wickets, while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat bagged 2 each. Abrar Ahmed also claimed one wicket.
