Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has rescinded her earlier decision to change the uniform of traffic wardens in Punjab. Maryam Nawaz had issued directives to change the uniform of Punjab traffic wardens four months ago.
In response to the directives, Punjab traffic authorities redesigned their uniform and recently submitted it for approval. After looking over both the old and new uniforms, Maryam Nawaz decided to continue using the existing uniform. Traffic authorities have started buying uniforms with old colours and design.
According to a report of private media, traffic officials plan to purchase around 14,000 new uniforms and additional items for wardens province-wide, including Lahore. The uniform will be procured for Rs 80 million in budgeted funds. As per officials, the uniform change will cost almost Rs 140 million.
Following the Punjab CM’s order, traffic officials advertise the uniform purchase in the media and buy them after the tender process is completed.
