Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi will not attend the medal ceremony for the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games, which will be held after the much-anticipated final between traditional rivals Pakistan and India at the Koroji Sports Park on Saturday.
The final of the men’s cricket event at the 2026 Asian Games will be played between Pakistan and India today.
According to the Asian Cricket Council, the ACC president will be unable to attend the final due to prior commitments.
In a statement, the ACC said that due to commitments made earlier, Mohsin Naqvi would not be able to travel to the Asian Games. However, he extended his best wishes to the medal-winning teams at the Games.
It may be recalled that after India won the men’s T20 Asia Cup last year, the Indian team refused to receive the trophy and medals from Mohsin Naqvi, who is not only the president of the ACC but also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Following the Indian team’s refusal, the closing ceremony was initially delayed and later concluded without the winning team being presented with the trophy.
A similar incident occurred last Sunday after the final of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup, when India refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi despite defeating defending champions Sri Lanka in the final to become tournament champions.
