The date for distributing electric bikes among students has been announced. Free helmets, safety rods and free driving training will also be provided.

According to private a TV channel, the electric bike scheme launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for students has received an overwhelming response from students.

So far, more than 1.149 million students from across the province have registered for the scheme.

According to figures released by the Punjab Chief Minister, a total of 1,149,058 students have applied for electric bikes so far, including 222,101 female students.

Maryam Nawaz said the scheme has been designed to empower the youth of Punjab, provide them with independence and facilitate convenient transportation.

Under the current phase of the scheme, the Punjab government will distribute a total of 100,000 electric bikes.

The application process began on September 5, 2026, and the deadline has been set for October 4, 2026, while the formal distribution of electric bikes will begin in early November 2026.

To reduce the financial burden on students, the government has announced a substantial subsidy on the bikes. The market price of a bike is Rs199,000, but students will have to pay only Rs109,000.

The remaining amount will be paid by students in easy installments over 36 months (three years), with a monthly installment of only Rs3,028.

Under the scheme, students will not have to make any down payment, while all registration, insurance and markup (interest) costs will be borne by the Punjab government.

In addition, students will be provided with free helmets, safety rods and free driving training.
