The Government of Pakistan has announced the appointment of retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary General under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement (MJDA).
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Lt Gen Nauman Mahmood, who holds the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), will lead the General Secretariat of the alliance.
The secretariat is being established in Riyadh, the Foreign Office said.
The appointment marks the establishment of the leadership structure of the alliance formed under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement provides the framework for defence cooperation among its participating countries.
