The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) cut electricity to four Bahria Town Lahore projects on Friday. The move comes after the developer failed to pay over Rs. 682 million in outstanding bills.

LESCO CEO Muhammad Ramzan Butt confirmed the disconnections. Projects affected include Bahria Town, Bahria Orchard, Bahria Education City, and a Kingrete Associates project. “We will not restore power until the bills are cleared,” he said. He added that multiple payment extensions had already expired.

According to LESCO records, Bahria Town owes more than Rs. 530 million. Bahria Orchard owes Rs. 137 million, Bahria Education City Rs. 5.465 million, and the Kingrete project Rs. 2.7 million. The utility had set November 27 as the final payment deadline. However, the developer approached the court instead.

The outage has sparked outrage among residents. Many plan to demonstrate outside Bahria Town offices. Several reported spoiled food and disrupted daily routines. “It feels like we are living in a jungle, no electricity and no warm water,” said resident Fayyaz Ahmad.

This is not the first power issue in Bahria Town. In 2024, LESCO had disconnected electricity over Rs. 762 million in unpaid bills. The developer has also faced complaints about overbilling and solar power deductions in its Islamabad projects.

LESCO said power will be restored immediately once the outstanding dues are cleared.
