Web Desk: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department on Sunday announced summer vacations for public and private schools across the province as temperatures continued to rise in several districts.
According to an official notification, primary schools in summer zones will remain closed from June 1 to Aug. 31. Middle, high and higher secondary schools will observe holidays from June 15 to Aug. 16.

Meanwhile, schools in winter zones will remain closed from July 1 to July 31.
However, the government directed schools in summer zones to continue limited academic activities during June under a special summer camp plan.
Primary-level camps will run from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. from Monday to Thursday. Middle, high and higher secondary classes will continue from 7 a.m. to 9:40 a.m.
The camps will focus on selected subjects, including English, mathematics, science, Urdu and general knowledge.
High school students will study science and humanities subjects separately. Higher secondary students will attend classes in physics, chemistry, biology, IT, economics and statistics.
The department also allowed school heads to extend camp timings by one hour if necessary. However, officials barred schools from reducing the minimum teaching hours mentioned in the notification.
In addition, higher secondary students appearing in practical examinations conducted by Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education will not attend camps on examination days.
The department issued the notification after approval from the competent authority. Officials also sent copies to divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and education offices across the province for implementation.
