Under the notification, public holidays will be observed from May 26 to May 29, 2026, covering Tuesday through Friday. The holidays will apply to all provincial government offices, semi-government institutions and local government bodies across Sindh.
However, employees performing essential services and officials involved in budget preparation duties will remain exempt from the holiday schedule.
The notification was issued with the approval of Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah.
Meanwhile, officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said a formal notification regarding Eid al-Adha holidays in the province is expected soon, although no official announcement had been issued by Saturday evening.
The Eid holiday announcement in Sindh is expected to accelerate travel activity, shopping and transport demand across major cities, including Karachi and Hyderabad, ahead of the religious festival.
Authorities are also expected to release separate operational plans for hospitals, emergency response units and other essential public services during the extended break.
