Web Desk: The federal government decreased petroleum prices for the second consecutive week, slashing high-speed diesel by Rs. 6.80 per liter and petrol by Rs. 6 per liter to provide relief to consumers.
Following the latest administrative revision, the new retail price for petrol stands at Rs. 403.78 per liter. Concurrently, high-speed diesel now costs Rs. 402.78 per liter.
The Petroleum Division issued an official notification confirming that the revised rates take effect immediately on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
This decision follows a previous price reduction last week, when authorities lowered petrol and diesel rates by Rs. 5 per liter. That adjustment brought prices down to Rs. 409.78 and Rs. 409.58 per liter, respectively.
Prior to this downward trend, significant market increases had pushed fuel prices to historic peaks. Petrol previously peaked at Rs. 414.78 per liter, while high-speed diesel climbed to Rs. 414.58 per liter before the back-to-back cuts reversed the upward momentum.
