Web Desk: Karachi Port has achieved a new national milestone in container operations, processing more than 2.651 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) before the close of the current financial year, officials said.

The record underscores the port’s growing role in supporting Pakistan’s economy and facilitating maritime commerce, according to maritime authorities.

Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar said the achievement reflects increasing business confidence in Pakistan’s maritime industry and highlights the sector’s expanding contribution to trade activity.

He attributed the performance to the dedication and sustained efforts of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) employees, including officers and operational staff, whose work helped the port reach the landmark figure.

Meanwhile, KPT Chairman Admiral Shahid Ahmed said Karachi Port continues to serve as a key gateway for the country’s trade and economic activity.

He added that a series of institutional reforms, coupled with investments in modern infrastructure, have strengthened port operations and contributed to a notable rise in cargo movement.

The latest record marks a significant benchmark for Karachi Port as authorities seek to enhance efficiency, expand capacity and support the growing demands of regional and international trade.

The achievement highlights the port’s strategic importance in Pakistan’s maritime network and its role in driving economic growth through increased cargo and container traffic.
