Around 1,400 nursing students affiliated with Dow University have been declared failed in English Literature, leading to protests by students on Tuesday
Students from nursing colleges affiliated with Dow University of Health Sciences are protesting against the Semester 4 re-take examinations and existing exam policies under the banner of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba.
Around 50 nursing colleges are participating in the protest being held outside the main campus of Dow University.
The affected students said that around 1,900 students appeared in the Semester 4 examinations, out of which nearly 1,400 were declared failed in a single subject, English Literature. The result has caused serious concern and frustration among students.
The nursing students have demanded the immediate cancellation of the current re-take exam schedule, calling for postponement of the exams and sufficient preparation time.
The protesters have also demanded a reduction in the financial burden of examination fees and a significant cut in re-take exam charges.
Students have requested an extension in the deadline for submitting exam fee vouchers to provide relief to students from low and middle-income families.
The protesting students said they will continue their demonstration against the Dow University administration until their demands are addressed.
