The semi-final of the hockey event at the Asian Games will be played between the Pakistan and India teams.
Pakistan secured a place in the semi-final after defeating Oman 7-2, while India qualified for the semi-final after defeating Bangladesh.
The final four lineup for the hockey event at the Asian Games has been completed. Pakistan will face India on October 1, while Malaysia will face Korea.
Pakistan defeated Oman 7-2 in its final match of Pool B. Rana Waheed scored a hat-trick for Pakistan. Sufyan Khan scored two goals, while Ghazanfar Ali and Muhammad Imad scored one goal each.
Pakistan won four of its five matches in Pool B, while it suffered a defeat against Malaysia.
In five matches, the Pakistan hockey team scored 28 goals and conceded 8 goals.
In the final match of Pool A, India defeated Bangladesh 10-0 to secure the top position in Group A.
India was grouped in pool A with Japan South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia.
India was not grouped with arch-rival Pakistan. Pakistan has been placed in Pool B along with Malaysia, China, Oman, Uzbekistan and Thailand.
The bronze medal and gold medal matches will be played on Oct 3.
It is worth noting that this historic event is serving as the Asian qualifiers for the 2028 Summer Olympics, with the winner of both competitions directly qualifying for the main tournament, while the next top five men’s and four women’s teams will play the 2028 Olympic Qualifiers.
