Former Malaysian football legend Datuk Abdul Alif has married at the age of 72 after being away from professional football for more than 40 years.

According to foreign media, Datuk Alif married a woman nearly 50 years younger than him on August 27. The marriage was confirmed by his younger brother, Datuk Younes Alif, who is also a former national player and coach.

According to the report, Datuk Abdul Alif’s wife is said to be 20 years old.

The marriage has attracted significant attention after pictures of the football legend and his wife went viral on social media.

Younes said that the marriage took place with the consent of both families. “We pray that both of them remain happy.”

According to Younes, his brother may currently be on his honeymoon, which is why he is not answering phone calls. However, it is certain that the two have been married, and we wish them both well.

It should be noted that Datuk Abdul Alif holds a prominent place in Malaysian football history, particularly for his important role during the national team’s golden era in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He was part of the Malaysian team that defeated South Korea 2-1 in a decisive qualifying match to qualify for the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

However, his dream of playing in the Olympics could not be fulfilled because Malaysia boycotted the 1980 Moscow Olympics in protest against the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan.
