An FIR has been registered against Mahmood Khan Achakzai over an allegedly inflammatory, provocative and controversial speech delivered at a public gathering held in Chaman, Balochistan on May 29. The action has been considered necessary to maintain law and order and to reduce tensions in a sensitive border region.

According to police sources, the complaint stated that the speech delivered at the rally contained points that could potentially incite public emotions and create a negative impression about state institutions. Authorities said that such statements in a sensitive area could prove harmful to public peace.

Chaman is an area already facing a fragile situation due to smuggling, cross-border movement, and various social and tribal issues. In such circumstances, according to the official position, inflammatory statements could further complicate the situation.

It is also noted that at the rally, certain statements were made which allegedly gave the impression of sympathy or support for armed groups, which has been taken seriously by state institutions. Authorities maintain that supporting or encouraging any illegal or armed organization is against the law and may pose risks to law and order.

It was further stated that the use of harsh or inflammatory language against state institutions is not only against institutional dignity but can also create division and mistrust among the public.
