Web Desk: Faf du Plessis has walked away from the IPL 2026 auction. The South African star is ready for something different. He’s chosen the Pakistan Super League.
In his own words, Faf explained the decision. “This year I want a fresh challenge. The PSL feels right. New places, new faces, and that incredible Pakistani warmth—I’m genuinely excited.”
Last season he turned out for Delhi Capitals. Nine games. 202 runs. When Axar Patel got injured, Faf took the captain’s armband for two matches. Yet Delhi still let him go ahead of the big auction.
Over 154 IPL games he’s the fourth-highest overseas run-getter. Four teams have had him: Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune. Two titles came with CSK—special memories.
Pakistan isn’t new territory for him. He played six PSL games before, for Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators between 2019 and 2021.
The calendar made the choice simple. IPL 2026 stretches from March to May. PSL runs April into May. Heavy overlap. Only one league could have him.
At 41, Faf still has fire in the belly. A new country, a new league, a new crowd to win over. He’s smiling at the thought. Pakistan, here he comes.
