Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a major celebration for the people of Lahore, approving a 10-day Basant festival in the city.
According to the announcement, Basant will be celebrated in Lahore from January 29 to February 7, 2027, with a one-day break on February 5 due to Kashmir Day.
Basant was revived in Lahore earlier this year after a 25-year gap, with celebrations held from February 6 to 8, 2026.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed officials to present the 10-day Basant celebration as a gift for Lahoris on the arrival of the New Year 2027.
She said the festival would help promote Punjab’s cultural colours and Lahore’s historic traditions around the world.
The chief minister instructed authorities to ensure stronger safety and public facilitation measures compared to the previous Basant celebrations.
She also appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly, saying that protecting human lives must remain the top priority through a sense of duty, responsibility, and awareness.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari stated in a tweet that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed officials to present a 10-day Basant celebration as a gift for the people of Lahore on the arrival of New Year 2027.
